Academics

Dr Muhammad Shehryar Manzoor is Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology at National Skills University Islamabad. He is a graduate Mechanical Engineer with a PhD in Fluid Structure Interaction Systems from Ecole Polytechnique, Paris France. As part of the PhD, he performed extensive experimentation on a subsonic Eiffel type wind tunnel practicing design of experiments, calibration, benchmarking and real time data acquisition. The PhD provided priceless opportunities to learn and practice various tools of research. Prior to the PhD, he completed his research masters in Energetics, Fluids and Internal Aerodynamics from ENSAM ParisTech, France. Dr. Shehryar earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, NUST.

Experience

Dr Shehryar has the unique honor of being the Incharge Program of the country’s first BSc Automotive Engineering Technology Program at UET Taxila. In addition, he has served as secretary of the NTC’s NCRC for BSc Automotive Engineering Technology program.

Dr Shehryar has over 12 years’ experience in academia and research. His area of research is fluid flow and conjugate heat transfer in fluid structure interaction systems. Dr Shehryar also has an HEC-NRPU Grant worth PKR 12.3 million. He teaches Fluid Mechanics, Gas Dynamics, Finite Element Methods, Computational Fluid Dynamics and Advanced Thermodynamics at the graduate and undergraduate level. Two candidates have completed their Doctorates whereas another 16 students have completed their Masters under his supervision.

Teaching Philosophy

Logical thought is the single most important quality which works magic and open doors for anyone in their personal and professional lives. Asking questions and working out solutions systematically and rationally is what evolves our brains. Dr. Shehryar aims to encourage and become a part of this evolution process. For him a good teacher:

  • Is energetic and excited about his subject
  • Inculcates rational thought and critical analysis
  • Enables the students to use their rationale and critical thought in solving real life problems

In a classroom environment, the goal is to facilitate learning and students learn more by example than by percept. Students are encouraged to give prompt feedbacks about the course content and the lecturing style. The outcome is a classroom which is both conducive and inspiring to learning.
