Dr. Rashid Iqbal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) at National Skills University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology from the National Institute of Health, Islamabad, Pakistan, and completed his MS research focusing on the antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of pathogens. Dr. Iqbal earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry with a specialization in human genetics from PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. During his Ph.D., he was awarded the prestigious International Research Support Initiative Program Fellowship, funded by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, which enabled him to travel to Erasmus Medical Centre, Rotterdam, Netherlands. There, he conducted research on Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and in silico vaccine design focused on Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare autoimmune disorder.

With 14 years of clinical laboratory experience and 7 years in academia, Dr. Iqbal has made substantial contributions to medical laboratory technology. He holds the MLS-ASCP certification, a standard of excellence in the field, and has represented Pakistan at multiple international conferences and training programs. As a leader in his field, Dr. Iqbal introduced new domains in medical technology and played a pivotal role in securing JCI accreditation during his tenure at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, Islamabad.
