The National Skills University Islamabad (NSU) hosted a one-day cascading session of the STEM Faculty Development Programme under the PAK-UK Education Gateway, a collaborative initiative of the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE–HEC), British Council, King’s College London, and the STEM Learning Centre, York (UK).
The session brought together faculty members trained in the UK under this prestigious programme to share their insights and innovative teaching practices with their peers across the university.
Serving as both organizers and resource persons, Dr. Maryam Subhani and Ms. Anita Bibi represented NSU Islamabad, alongside Dr. Raisa Bano from the Women University Swabi, Dr. Saima Kalsoom from PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, and Dr. Samar Naseer from the Allama Iqbal Open University.
The workshop featured a series of transformative topics aimed at enhancing the quality of STEM teaching and learning, including:
CDIO (Conceive–Design–Implement–Operate) Framework and its alignment with Outcomes-Based Education (OBE)
Project-Based Learning (PBL)
Microteaching for Reflective Practice
Generative Use of Artificial Intelligence in STEM Teaching
Authentic Assessment Methods for evaluating real-world competencies
These innovative approaches promote active learning, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving—skills essential for the modern workforce.
Dr. Noor Amna Malik, Managing Director of NAHE, graced the event as the chief guest. She commended the collaborative efforts of the resource persons and emphasized the importance of sustaining such peer-learning cascades across universities in Pakistan.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor of NSU Islamabad, lauded the organizing team’s efforts and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to skills-oriented and hands-on education that prepares students for the challenges of the 21st-century workplace.
